A polygon zone is a mask applied to a camera's image. It hides parts of the frame from detection entirely — Veesion won't analyse anything inside the masked area.
By default, Veesion processes the full camera frame. Masking out a zone is useful when part of the image consistently generates noise: a till at the edge of the frame, an entrance in the background, or a produce aisle where customers routinely place items into bags.
Ask for a polygon contacting support zone when:
- Part of the frame causes repeated false alerts, and you can't reposition the camera
- A section of the image is irrelevant to theft detection → e.g., ATMs, self-service food counters, checkout lane)
- A recent store layout change has made part of a camera's coverage unsuitable
## What to send Veesion when requesting a change
To action a polygon zone request quickly, include the following in your message to support:
- Camera number — as it appears in the app (e.g. Camera 3, or the name you've set)
- What to exclude — describe the area in plain terms (e.g., "ignore the till on the left", "mask out the entrance in the top-right corner")
- A screenshot — take a still from the camera in the app and mark the area to hide; a rough circle or arrow is enough
The Veesion team applies the mask and confirms once it's live.
